The international webinar on "Recent Astrophysical Research in Black Holes and Evolution of Galaxies," organized by the Department of Physics at Acharya Prafulla Chandra College in collaboration with IQAC on July 20, 2020, saw impressive participation with 230 attendees. The virtual event featured notable speakers: Dr. Dipanjan Mukherjee from IUCAA, Pune, India, who discussed the influence of supermassive black holes on galaxy growth, and Dr. Md Ramiz Aktar from Xiamen University, China, who elaborated on accretion-ejection mechanisms in black hole accretion disks. This platform allowed global researchers and enthusiasts to delve into cutting-edge astrophysical topics. E-certificates were awarded to all registered participants, acknowledging their engagement. Attendee feedback underscored the webinar's success in fostering international dialogue and sharing advanced insights, showcasing the college's dedication to advancing astrophysical research and knowledge dissemination.

On July 27, 2020, A.K.P.C. Mahavidyalaya and A.P.C. College jointly hosted a national webinar on specialized physics topics, focusing on Astronomy and Quantum Computation. Organized by their Departments of Physics and IQAC, the event was led by Dr. Satyaki Kar and Dr. Sukhamoy Bhattacharyya. The keynote address by Dr. Supratik Pal, Professor at ISI Kolkata, offered insights into "Unveiling the Mysteries of Our Universe with Telescopes," highlighting telescopic advancements in cosmic exploration. Dr. Anirban Pathak from JIIT Noida spoke on "Are Quantum Technologies Going to Change the World?" discussing the revolutionary potential of quantum technologies across various sectors. The webinar drew a diverse audience of scholars, researchers, and student’s nationwide, fostering robust academic dialogue and idea exchange. It highlighted the significance of interdisciplinary research and motivated participants to explore emerging frontiers in these dynamic fields.


 

 


 

One Day National Webinar on

Frontiers of Physics – 2021

In the academic year 2021-22, the Department of Physics at Acharya Prafulla Chandra College organized a one-day National Webinar titled “Frontiers of Physics – 2021” on July 6, 2021, via the Google Meet platform. This event, held in collaboration with IQAC, aimed to explore current topics in Physics relevant to both graduate students and research scholars. The webinar featured two distinguished speakers: Prof. Muktish Acharyya from Presidency University, Kolkata, and Prof. Bipul Pal from IISER, Kolkata. They delivered insightful presentations and engaged in an interactive Q&A session with the audience. The event attracted around 200 participants, including faculty, research scholars, and students from various institutions. The presence of these eminent speakers fostered a vibrant scientific atmosphere, leading to fruitful discussions on the fundamentals of Physics. Participants received e-certificates, and the event concluded with a valedictory session led by the IQAC coordinator.

 


Two Days National Seminar on

Recent Trends in Physics (RTP-2023)

The Department of Physics, in collaboration with the IQAC of Acharya Prafulla Chandra College, New Barrackpore, Kolkata, organized a two-day national seminar titled "Recent Trends in Physics (RTP-2023)" on June 28th and 30th, 2023. The seminar aimed to provide a platform for students and teachers to explore various areas of physics and exchange ideas. The event featured invited talks on topics such as quantum mechanics, condensed matter theory, mathematical physics, non-equilibrium statistical physics, and astronomy. Speakers included Dr. Ananda Dasgupta (IISER Kolkata), Dr. Debnarayan Jana (University of Calcutta), Dr. Sourabh Lahiri (BIT Mesra), Dr. Debiprosad Duari (Former Director, M. P. Birla Institute of Fundamental Research), and Dr. Apurba Kabasi (Consultant Medical Physicist, Medella Karkinos). The seminar also included contributed talks, poster presentations, and awards for best oral and poster presentations. The event was a success, fostering lively discussions and a collaborative atmosphere.
