ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Statistics was established in the year 2002 with an introduction of General course in Statistics. Currently, the department offers B.Sc. (Honours) in Statistics, B.Sc. (General) in Statistics programs. The department aims to train students for analyzing data arising in different investigations in various disciplines using various Statistical techniques.
The Department has laboratories equipped with the basic and modern computing facilities for the use of students and teachers. There is a good collection of books in central library with latest titles in various areas of statistics. The students of the department got admitted to M.Sc. in various Universities like University of Kalyani, West Bengal State University, Presidency University, Pune University, University of Delhi, Benaras Hindu University (BHU) after completion of graduation. Regarding job opportunities in various multi-national companies, many students got suitable placement in Research Institutes or Industries or Government Departments.
